The lost of a Resistant's gem
Could you give us the name of a great and renowned Resistant? Then, could you give us a name of a brilliant ethnologist woman who also fighted as a Resistant ? No, you haven't found, haven't you ? Well, we are willing to help you in giving you a tiny clue. Indeed, this personnality was chosen to name the Sain Bel's High School in March 2009. This choice was made in the aim of celebrating her hectic struggle for humanity. Her name: Germaine Tillion.
In 2001, “Les trois vies de Germaine Tillion” was released. It was a documentary which deals with three facets that she has shown through her history: the ethnologist, the resistant and the fighter. It was built around her words, story and anecdotes more than the chronology of the tragic and wretched events that occurred in her life. A large amount of archives, photographs, films and contemporary historical document are added to enrich the topic. This harrowing film represents the whole truth of an eventful century with a note of sincerity.
Step by step, even museums are paying tribute in her honor. For instance, the Musée de l'Homme made an exhibition dedicate to her glorious ethnologist career which travelled down ages and to her involvement in the Resistance. It related her lifetime filled with sundens but always wholeheartedly with righteousness no matter what.
When she died, there was a stream of newspaper articles enshrined of her. For instance, The New-York Times spoke about her whole life, in giving specific details. Moreover, the journalist didn't only pay attention to her ethnologist carieer or her fight in the Resistance, so it makes the article really complete and thoroughgoing. Although, many newspaper published article focused on her life as a Resistant, as The Independent or Boston.
It finally shows how known and acknowledged she was and still is.
Nevertheless she provides us a last message, that indeed we had translate:
“At the end of my journey I realize how weak and malleable the human is. Nothing is ever granted. Our due of vigilance must be absolute. Evil can come back at any moment, he broods over and we must act when there is still time to prevent the worst.”
Isn't it the line of though, that we should apply in the twenty-first century ?
